Washing Your Makeup Brushes

A necessary but tedious task – washing your makeup brushes! While it can seem like a useless task, washing your makeup brushes regularly is very important. If you’re looking for a foolproof way to quickly and effectively wash your daily use brushes, continue reading this month’s blog!

Washing your makeup brushes doesn’t need to be a difficult task. A few very simply steps are all it takes to protect your skin from potential bacterial and germs. First start with a cup of warm water. If you have many brushes, fill a bowl with warm water! Try to not use your sink while the water is continuously running. Once your cup is filled, add some gentle shampoo! You don’t even need a special and expensive brush cleaner. If you have shampoo at home you’re good to go! Gently mix it into the water so it’s sudds and smells good. Take the brush you’re ready to wash, swirl it around the warm water solution. Once you soak the bristles, use your hand to scrub. You can gently swirl it around your palm to lather it up and expel the old makeup. After you achieve a good lather, rise the brush in the sink with warm water! Be sure to turn the running water off once you’re done rinsing, then towel dry the brush. Attempt to get rid of most the water with your towel, but leave the brush out flat to dry after. Continue this process with each brush you are washing. Refresh your water if it’s getting too dirty or not enough sudds are left. The biggest tip to remember is that the sudds must be completely rinsed out of your brush or else the quality of the bristles will be effected!
