Sweat-Proof Your Summer Makeup with These 6 Tips

Hot weather is a real test of endurance for our daily makeup. When it start to heat up during the summer, you may experience melting foundation, smeared mascara, or oily skin. Don’t worry! The good news is there are hot-weather makeup and beauty tricks that will help you avoid all the above problems while ensuring your routine is effortless and your face is flawless.

To help you deal with this problem, we offer you a set of must-have beauty tips during the scorching summer months, so you can look radiant throughout the day!

Choose the Right Sunscreen

Sunscreen should be a part of your regular routine year-round, but when the summer comes, it’s wise to use sunscreens that are less oily. This way, your face won’t appear shiny to a fault and your makeup can last longer without smudging.

Use Primer as Your Base

Another way to control shine throughout the day is to use your makeup base the right way. Before putting on foundation, treat your skin to some moisturizing cream and apply a primer. This will help your makeup stay in place for longer, which is a plus on a hot day.

How to Apply Makeup

Don’t use cosmetics with your fingers. We recommend using sponges and makeup brushes instead. This will allow you to apply a thin layer of makeup, which is a perfect solution for going out in the summer heat.

Ease Up on Your Normal Makeup Routine

All too often, our makeup fails to pass the heat challenge and begins to melt. Therefore, the golden rule to follow should be that the less makeup, the better. All you need is moisturizing cream, concealer, and mascara enough to see you through the summer months.

Choose the Perfect Eye Shadow

The summer heat makes cream eye shadows coagulate and turn into little clumps all over your eyelids. This gives your face an unpleasant look and is the last thing you want. To avoid this problem, try using matte eye shadows. These eyeshadows are easy to use and won’t look as oily as cream or liquid shadows.

Choose the Right Powder

To keep your makeup routine extra breezy on baking, sunny days, avoid using pressed powder. The contact with direct sunlight and sweat will cause it to harden and crease. Simply use loose and translucent powders, which will keep your makeup looking fresh.

Conclusion

Whether you are a bride planning your wedding, or you have an important occasion within a few days and you want a stylish look, the summer heat is a true challenge to get the desired results. We suggest hiring a professional to get your makeup done the way you want it. Contact the team at Beauty Studio Inc Mobile Hair and Beauty at (725) 735-5046 for mobile makeup services and much more!

8 Makeup Brushes You Need in Your Kit

The highest-rated eyeshadows, foundations, blushes and highlighters would be nothing without the right makeup tools. Makeup lovers today are fortunate to have the broadest range of natural and synthetic brushes and applicators than ever before. From large blending brushes to precise angular brushes, knowing which makeup brushes are right for you, your routine, and your favorite products can easily become confusing and overwhelming. Below, we’ve outlined the top eight brushes even the simplest of makeup looks will require!

  • Foundation Brush: Those who prefer a brush to a sponge when applying face makeup should keep several things in mind when deciding which one is right for them. For full coverage, opt for a kabuki style brush which are known for their dense, firm bristles. When going for lighter coverage try a stippling brush. These brushes have two layers of bristles which work to provide a more natural and air brushed look.
  • Concealer Brush: A concealer brush should be able to seamlessly blend under eye concealer as well as instantly cover the look of blemishes. Concealer brushes can come in a variety of styles, but the best have bristles that are short, symmetrical, tapered, and have an all-over medium density.
  • Contour Brush: When it comes to finding the right contour brush everything should be considered from the size to the shape to the types of bristles. All of the highest rated contour brushes on the market have dense, soft bristled perfectly angled for optimal cheekbone sculpting.
  • Blush Brush: Similarly to contour brushes, blush brushes work to sculpt and define cheeks while providing a flushed, sun kissed finish. These brushes often come in styles similar to contour and foundation brushes but with bristles that are more tapered and not as dense.
  • Highlighter Brush: For a natural and glowy look you will need a highlighting brush that can provide a precise and buildable finish. These qualities can often be found in brushes that are soft, fluffy, tapered, and relatively small in size.
  • Setting Powder Brush: Setting powder is a revolutionary product that locks in makeup while absorbing oil and minimizing the appearance of fine lines and creases. The highest rated setting brushes have bristles that can hold and control where product does and does not go. When looking for a setting powder brush look for one similar to a highlighting brush making sure that it’s soft, fluffy and tapered.
  • Eyeshadow Brush: Eyeshadow brushes are designed to perfectly compliment the shape of the eyelid and build product with minimal fallout. These brushes should have flat, dense and rounded bristles which are optimal for flawless blending and building up pigment.
  • Angled Eye Brush: Angled eye brushes are flat and have short, compacted bristles perfect for drawing precise lines around the eyelash lines. These types of brushes can be used with crème or powdered shadows and eye lining products.

Drag Queen Makeup Tips for Beginners

Turning yourself into a queen takes practice and little bit of patience when it comes to applying drag makeup. If you are new to this expressive makeup scene, learning a couple of tips before you begin can really make a difference. From having a clean-shaven face to contouring, we have curated some of the best makeup tips for our first-time drag queens to follow.

Shave the Face

A clean-shaven face is beneficial for smooth application and a flawless finish. Shave away the beard, mustache, and any hairs on the face to apply your makeup evenly. Afterwards, be sure to moisturize and precede with your regular skincare routine.

Lift It Up

When we say “lift it up”, this means using invisible tape to lift the face. With this helpful product, you can get a more youthful appearance. In addition, the tape can lift the eyes while smoothing the jawline and neck area. Any drag queen can take advantage of this tip, no matter what age.

Contour to Shape

Contouring can make your nose appear smaller, sculpt your cheeks to look sharper, and much more. With a light concealer and dark contour, you can play with the makeup on the points of your face where you want definition, or perhaps reduce larger features. Whatever your drag makeup goals are, contour is definitely essential.

Set the Makeup

For a matte finish, use a setting powder to reduce shine and pores. Whichever setting powder you choose, focus on setting your T-zone. This includes the middle of the forehead, the sides of the nose, and the chin. It’s a finishing touch that’s going to make a difference to your final drag look!

Sweat-Proof Your Makeup!

Las Vegas summers can get really hot, so how can you get your makeup to last? Well by following our makeup tips, you don’t have to sweat it (literally). From using an oil-free primer to swapping out a heavy foundation for a lighter formula, we have compiled a list of makeup hacks you can follow to look and stay cool for the summer. Keep on reading!

Skip the Powder

When you are sweating in the heat, you don’t want to apply powder. You might be thinking, “well it will cover up my shininess”, when in reality it can exaggerate your fine lines and wrinkles. More powder can also make you look cakey, which is not attractive. Instead, use blotting papers to remove any excess oil.

Use a Primer

Before applying your foundation, reach for an oil-free primer. The foundation will stick to the primer and reduce any shine you might see after a long day in the heat. If you choose to skip this step, still apply an oil-free moisturizer to give your skin nourishment and protection.

Light Foundation is Key

Full coverage foundation is more likely to melt off your face. As a replacement, you can use a lightweight, oil-free foundation that will stay on longer and let your skin breathe. Trust us when we say that your skin will thank you later!

Setting Spray

A setting spray application is light and refreshing, while letting your makeup last all day. Test out a couple of setting sprays that work best for your skin. Some formulas may have a dewy glow or a matte finish. As long as your makeup is locked into place, then your setting spray is doing its job.

A Closer Look at Airbrush Makeup

Why are so many makeup artists using airbrush makeup? With easy application and precise coverage, a makeup artist can focus on the details of the face. When compared to traditional makeup, using an airbrush offers more of an even distribution of foundation onto the skin. To learn more about the advantages of airbrush makeup, continue reading!

Natural Finish

While foundation is normally applied with a brush or beauty blender, an airbrush delivers a seamless finish without changing your natural skin texture. Sometimes, blotchy patches and marks are still visible with normal foundation application, but with an airbrush, you get a beautiful, fine mist that gently sets on the skin. StyleAurora says “this makes airbrush makeup perfect for modern high definition television.”

Lightweight

There are many thick and full coverage foundations on the market, which can sometimes block pores and cause breakouts. When opting for an airbrush foundation, you don’t have to worry about a cakey appearance. The foundation is formulated to be lightweight and give you a natural look. It lets your skin breathe throughout the day, so you can still feel and look beautiful even after you wipe it off.

Water Resistant

Did you know? Most airbrush makeup is water resistant. Perfect for warm weather during a photoshoot or a humid wedding destination, airbrush makeup can withstand sweat and water better than regular makeup. There also isn’t the need to reapply, which is a game changer for models and other clients in the entertainment industry.

Get Glammed with Competition Makeup

Female athlete wearing makeup

In the world of competitive sports, bodybuilders are known to show off their strength and beauty on stage. Female competitors combine different beauty routines to enhance their physique, which includes the application of competition makeup. It’s best applied by a professional makeup artist, as  he or she will know how to blend foundation into the competitor’s deep tan  and how to color match eyeshadows and lip colors. If you’re interested in competition-style makeup and how it’s applied by an MUA, keep on reading!

Foundation

Stage tans are a popular beauty routine for bodybuilders, so it’s not uncommon to see darkened skin tones up on stage. With this in mind, makeup artists will have various foundation shades in order to match with the competitor’s tan. The foundation shouldn’t be too light to where it would stand out, but it also shouldn’t be “muddy” or “dirty” looking. It’s important to note: most MUAs recommend you skip tanning the face. The foundation can be set better on fresh skin and blended together more easily than on spray-tanned skin.

Eyeshadow, Cheeks, and Lips

Female bodybuilders are also known for their dramatic stage makeup applied to highlight facial features and compensate for the color that would be washed out by the bright stage lights. Makeup artists will apply a dark base eyeshadow and finish with a sparkly overlay in order to draw attention to the eyes. Pink blushes and darker contour colors can bring back color to the face; lips should be kept simple if you have a dramatic eye look. A professional MUA will ask you about your stage ensemble to best match your colors and shades with theirs.

Setting Powder & Setting Spray

Setting powder for makeup

If you don’t want your foundation to smudge throughout the competition day, applying a simple setting powder is key. Makeup artists will have a variety of setting powders that work with tanned skin, especially for a bodybuilding client. Just as important as setting powder, a setting spray to hold everything in place is definitely important for going on and off stage. According to GlamFit Bikinis, “a professional makeup artist specializes in using certain products and steps to ensure your makeup is going to last from those super early morning starts of makeup application, to when you finish up your special day into the evening.”

Conclusion

Get glammed for your competition day with the assistance from a professional MUA at Beauty Studio Inc Mobile Hair and Makeup. We have hair and makeup services that cater towards our body building clients and individuals in competitive sports. If you need to schedule an appointment with us, call or book online today!

Trendy Fall Makeup Looks

As the leaves turn different colors and the weather cools down, it’s clear that fall is just around the corner. You may be wondering: how can I change up my makeup routine to reflect the autumn season? In this blog post, we’re going to discuss a few different ways you can incorporate dark and smoky pigments into your makeup look!

Burgundy/Purples

Burgundy shadows and lipsticks pair well with light to medium skin tones.  The contrast of dark purples against your skin helps you to put together a dramatic look that catches attention anywhere you go. For eyeshadow application, we recommend blending together the colors at the crease first, and then buffing out the remaining shadow towards the outer eyelid. As for your lipstick, apply a dark colored lip liner and then fill in the remaining space with your favorite burgundy shade!

Deep Reds/Oranges

From crimson reds to burnt oranges, go outside of your comfort zone with these warm hues. This color palette is perfect for all skin tones, and can be incorporated with a variety of makeup looks. Since we’re sticking to fall trends, pair a matte red lipstick with neutral eyeshadows to let your lips be the center of attention. Orange eyeliners and eyeshadows are also a great way to add a pop of color on your lids!

Chiseled Charcoal

A super light dusting of a charcoal shadow can turn your fall makeup into something whimsical, yet sophisticated. The grey and black tones of charcoal can be combined with a jet black eyeliner and false lashes to up the intensity. Be sure to blend these colors to the outer edge of your eyelid, being careful not to smudge the shadow onto the rest of your face. However, if you do mess up, take a clean makeup wipe and carefully wipe away the mistake for a fresh start!

Conclusion

Using the latest techniques and skills in the makeup industry, our professional makeup artists at Beauty Studio Inc Mobile Hair and Makeup will give you a full face fall look. From touch ups to airbrush applications, we can customize any makeup style to your preference. Visit our website for more information on our makeup packages today!

6 Tips for Studio Makeup

Makeup can truly make a difference when you’re on television or working behind a camera. The camera picks up the little nuances of your face, and that includes your makeup too. From carefully blending foundation to applying a darker lip color, there are many tips and tricks for looking your best in the studio. We’ve put together a list of our own so you can look great for every studio session!

1. Prep Skin

Apply moisturizer if you have dry skin, then pick your favorite primer! A good primer will not only help your skin look smoother, but can help makeup last longer. Your makeup will need to last through the day if you’re working from the morning into the late afternoon/evening. Primer can also reduce pores and keep your skin hydrated under the layers of makeup!

2. Foundation/Concealer

Next, apply your foundation with a damp sponge or brush to blend away any streaks or lines. Try using a foundation with an HD formula; it won’t make your face look “flat”, and can give you a more illuminated look.

Lightly apply concealer under your eyes, to the sides of your nose, and to the forehead. Concealer will not only cover dark spots, but brighten areas of the face you want to stand out!

3. Powder

To avoid shine, blot and use a colorless powder. Look for white powders that really don’t have any color to them but do absorb oil as it will look more natural and less cakey in front of the camera. Just apply with a big powder brush where needed.

 (Tip: Focus on your T-zone!)

4. Eyeshadow/Lashes

Matte eyeshadows work best on camera, and earth tones (beige, browns, and taupe) are the most flattering. Blend lighter shades first and then work your way to the darker colors. The darker colors will be the ones to show up most, so don’t worry about a heavy hand!

(Tip: Avoid shimmery colors!)

Adding a pair of fake eyelashes can also open up your eyes. Just make sure to select a length that is not too dramatic. If you do choose to wear fake eyelashes, try applying them on the outer corner of the lid.

5. Blush

Blush can give you back the healthy glow you’re missing underneath all the foundation and powders. We suggest applying your blush from the apples of your cheeks and brushing upward towards the temples for a lifted effect. Coral pinks and peachy pinks add just the right amount of color!

6. Lipstick

The lipstick shades that are best for the studio are neutral pinks. Pinks are great for any eye look, but if you have on neutral eyeshadow, it’s okay to reach for a darker shade of lipstick!

Conclusion

A full face of makeup can drastically change your appearance, especially when you’re in the studio or on camera broadcasting to a large audience. We suggest hiring a professional to get your makeup done the way you want it. Contact the team at Beauty Studio Inc Mobile Hair and Beauty for mobile makeup services and much more!
