Trendy Fall Makeup Looks

As the leaves turn different colors and the weather cools down, it’s clear that fall is just around the corner. You may be wondering: how can I change up my makeup routine to reflect the autumn season? In this blog post, we’re going to discuss a few different ways you can incorporate dark and smoky pigments into your makeup look!

Burgundy/Purples

Burgundy shadows and lipsticks pair well with light to medium skin tones.  The contrast of dark purples against your skin helps you to put together a dramatic look that catches attention anywhere you go. For eyeshadow application, we recommend blending together the colors at the crease first, and then buffing out the remaining shadow towards the outer eyelid. As for your lipstick, apply a dark colored lip liner and then fill in the remaining space with your favorite burgundy shade!

Deep Reds/Oranges

From crimson reds to burnt oranges, go outside of your comfort zone with these warm hues. This color palette is perfect for all skin tones, and can be incorporated with a variety of makeup looks. Since we’re sticking to fall trends, pair a matte red lipstick with neutral eyeshadows to let your lips be the center of attention. Orange eyeliners and eyeshadows are also a great way to add a pop of color on your lids!

Chiseled Charcoal

A super light dusting of a charcoal shadow can turn your fall makeup into something whimsical, yet sophisticated. The grey and black tones of charcoal can be combined with a jet black eyeliner and false lashes to up the intensity. Be sure to blend these colors to the outer edge of your eyelid, being careful not to smudge the shadow onto the rest of your face. However, if you do mess up, take a clean makeup wipe and carefully wipe away the mistake for a fresh start!

6 Tips for Studio Makeup

Makeup can truly make a difference when you’re on television or working behind a camera. The camera picks up the little nuances of your face, and that includes your makeup too. From carefully blending foundation to applying a darker lip color, there are many tips and tricks for looking your best in the studio. We’ve put together a list of our own so you can look great for every studio session!

1. Prep Skin

Apply moisturizer if you have dry skin, then pick your favorite primer! A good primer will not only help your skin look smoother, but can help makeup last longer. Your makeup will need to last through the day if you’re working from the morning into the late afternoon/evening. Primer can also reduce pores and keep your skin hydrated under the layers of makeup!

2. Foundation/Concealer

Next, apply your foundation with a damp sponge or brush to blend away any streaks or lines. Try using a foundation with an HD formula; it won’t make your face look “flat”, and can give you a more illuminated look.

Lightly apply concealer under your eyes, to the sides of your nose, and to the forehead. Concealer will not only cover dark spots, but brighten areas of the face you want to stand out!

3. Powder

To avoid shine, blot and use a colorless powder. Look for white powders that really don’t have any color to them but do absorb oil as it will look more natural and less cakey in front of the camera. Just apply with a big powder brush where needed.

 (Tip: Focus on your T-zone!)

4. Eyeshadow/Lashes

Matte eyeshadows work best on camera, and earth tones (beige, browns, and taupe) are the most flattering. Blend lighter shades first and then work your way to the darker colors. The darker colors will be the ones to show up most, so don’t worry about a heavy hand!

(Tip: Avoid shimmery colors!)

Adding a pair of fake eyelashes can also open up your eyes. Just make sure to select a length that is not too dramatic. If you do choose to wear fake eyelashes, try applying them on the outer corner of the lid.

5. Blush

Blush can give you back the healthy glow you’re missing underneath all the foundation and powders. We suggest applying your blush from the apples of your cheeks and brushing upward towards the temples for a lifted effect. Coral pinks and peachy pinks add just the right amount of color!

6. Lipstick

The lipstick shades that are best for the studio are neutral pinks. Pinks are great for any eye look, but if you have on neutral eyeshadow, it’s okay to reach for a darker shade of lipstick!

Conclusion

A full face of makeup can drastically change your appearance, especially when you’re in the studio or on camera broadcasting to a large audience. We suggest hiring a professional to get your makeup done the way you want it. Contact the team at Beauty Studio Inc Mobile Hair and Beauty for mobile makeup services and much more!

Four Steps to Cover Up a Tattoo with Makeup

Tattoos are awesome; they are permanent works of art on your skin! However, there are times when you may find it necessary to cover up your visible tattoos, as some people aren’t as accepting of them. Whether you have an upcoming job interview, or are about to meet your significant other’s parents for the first time, these 4 steps will help you hide your tattoo in no time.

What You Need

Before you begin concealing your tattoo, you need to make sure that you have these products:

  • Primer: Primer preps your tattoo for the makeup you are going to be applying. It evens out the skin to provide a smooth canvas for you to work on.
  • Full coverage foundation: As the name suggests, the foundation is the base of your concealing routine. We recommend using a matte finish foundation.
  • A concealer palette: Concealers help to mask skin blemishes (and tattoos) and can be matched to your skin tone.
  • A color-correcting crayon (Optional): Think of this as a spot-cleaning tool. These crayons come in a variety of colors, so you need to make sure that you get the correct color for your tattoo. For example, if your tattoo has red areas in it, you will need a green crayon to counteract them.
  • Face Powder or Setting Spray: Face powder and setting spray help your makeup products stay on all day. You can use both of these for more strength, or just face powder by itself.

Now that you have your makeup products, you can start the tattoo concealing process. However, keep in mind that these products are not waterproof and only offer temporary coverage.

The Four Steps

Step 1: Start with your primer. Apply an even layer over the area. If you have a colored tattoo, you should apply your color correcting crayon after the primer.

Step 2: Time for the foundation! Apply the foundation with a makeup blender to make it smooth and even. Blend outwards and use as much foundation as you need to provide full coverage. Most of your tattoo should be covered after this step.

Step 3: After the foundation, apply the concealer. Your palette should have a shade that closely matches your skin tone. (Experimenting with this beforehand will help you figure out which shade combination works best for you.) This should also be applied with a makeup blender in order to create a seamless look. At this point, the concealer should completely cover your tattoo.

Step 4: To keep your makeup in place all day, use face powder. That way, your foundation and concealer won’t disappear as the hours go by. For extra strength, apply the setting spray after the face powder to make sure that your tattoo stays covered.

Conclusion

Hiding your tattoos doesn’t have to be a difficult process, especially when you have the right products. However, relying on the professionals is always best. The beauty artists at Beauty Studio Inc.
