Different Types of Make-Up Primers

When it comes to our beauty and make-up routine, a flawless look is what we all want to achieve. In the beauty industry, there are so many different products and techniques to achieve these type of results, but primer is one of the products that is a must-have! Think of it as the base coat to achieving a smooth complexion and a long-lasting finish. Read along to learn about the different types of primer best for different skin types.

Mattifying Primer- Oily Skin

Mattifying primers are best for someone with oily skin. This type of primer minimizes the appearance of pores while helping reduce shine throughout the day and extending the wear of makeup. A good primer will give you an oil-free, matte finish that is light and hydrating without clogging your pores.

Tinted Primer

A tinted primer is great for subtly evening out skin tone and neutralizing discoloration. This works best on normal skin with small pores. It differs from a mattifying primer due to its dewy finish. If you like your face to have that extra glow, try a tinted primer with shimmer for that extra glow!

Colour-Correcting Primer

Coulour-correcting primers come in different hues to help with different skin imperfections. From the reduction of redness to minimizing pores and brightening your skin, these primers are life savers! If you your skin is a bit dull, go for a pink primer, which give your skin a much brighter finish. Primers with green hues help reduce redness along with blemishes.

Now that you’ve learned a little more about the wonderful powers of make-up primers you can go shop for one that fits your skin type! A flawless finish along with an extended makeup wear are only a few benefits of this great application. Here at Beauty Studio, we make sure to provide you with the best make-up products to deliver a gorgeous look each time. Visit our website to learn more beauty tips!

A Soft Spring Makeup Tutorial

Spring is the perfect season to try out softer colors in your makeup routine. From warm pastels like lavender and tangerine to bright peaches and pinks, you can transition from the darker tones of winter to the lighter shades of spring by switching out your color palette. Also, mixing and matching soft colors with your makeup products will give your face a radiant and glowing appearance to reflect the new season. Follow along in our blog to see how you can achieve a fresh spring makeup look!

What You’ll Need

Are you digging through your makeup collection? If there are coral and orange toned shades in your eyeshadow palette, apply them gently to your lid. A light sweep across the eyelid can brighten and draw attention to your natural eye color. Also, grab any light pink or peachy blushes for your cheeks. The natural color will leave your face looking fresh and clean. We recommend applying your blush with a tailored fluffy brush, tapping off any extra product before your application. To finish your makeup look, find a gloss with a pink tint or even a high shine lipstick. Apply generously and watch your spring makeup look come together!

Makeup Looks for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years

The holidays are a time for many parties and family gatherings, so you need to make sure that you are always looking your best. Start thinking ahead about what looks you are going to do, so you aren’t caught rushing to apply your makeup on the day of. This blog post will go over different makeup ideas for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years.

Thanksgiving

Autumn is a time for warm, earthy tones, so nude shades are going to look best. Thanksgiving is less of a party holiday, and more of a way to gather with family. As such, your makeup should look more natural and not so glamorous.

Eyes: Try pairing bronze eyeshadow with smoky liner to create a subtle, yet sophisticated look. The coppery tones will make your eyes shimmer without being too dramatic. If you want to be more daring, try vibrant red and orange eyeshadow to create a fiery look that mimics the autumn leaves.

Lips: Darker tones are a hit this season. A matte berry-colored lip looks amazingly stunning and refined. The deep wine or cranberry color serves as a great contrast to your eyes, which you can dramatize with bold lashes or silver eyeliner. Or, try lipsticks that are nude or cocoa-colored to tie together your lovely earthy look.

Face: If you decide to tone down your eyes and lips, you can emphasize other areas of your face. Make your cheekbones stand out with bronzed highlighter, or rim your lower lashes with shimmery copper shadow. You can also apply pinkish-red blush to your cheeks to create a sweet, flushed appearance.

Christmas

Everywhere you look, stores, restaurants, and homes are decked out with red and green Christmas decorations. These colors are the hallmarks of the season, so incorporating them into your makeup can be extra festive!

Eyes: Emerald smoky eyes are suitable for any Christmas party. Use two or three different shades of green for your eyeshadow to add dimension to your eyelid, and then fade it out past your crease for dramatic effect. Try applying a metallic shade of green in the center of the lid and in the corners to catch the light and make your eyes stand out even more.

Lips: If you decide to make your lips the focal point of your look, go bold with bright, red lipstick. However, be careful not to overdo your look – red lipstick looks best when paired with light and neutral eyes, as to not appear overwhelming. Brush on a little eyeshadow and mascara and you’re ready to go!

Face: Blush will look great for either look mentioned above. A hint of pink on your cheeks pairs well with red lips, and can provide a unique contrast if you decide on emerald smoky eyes. You can also apply a tiny bit of blush on the tip of the nose to give you that rosy, frost-bitten look.

New Years

With fireworks, sparklers, and flashing lights, New Years is a huge celebration! Now is when you should bring on the glam, sparkles, and glitter. Stick with silver, gold, and champagne pink shades.

Eyes: Glitter lids are an essential for any New Year’s Eve party. Scatter a glitter pigment across your eyes and extend it beyond the outer corners, then top it off with bold eyeliner and heavy lashes. If you only want a tad bit of sparkle, glitzy gold eyeliner brings a subtle sparkle while still being sophisticated.

Lips: If you’re going glam with your eyes, tone down the rest of your look to make the shine stand out even more. A creamy pink lip will go well with any sparkly eye look, and it still looks festive without being too cliché.

Face: If you decide against being glitzy with your eyes, you can always apply an extra sparkly highlighter to make your cheekbones shimmer. The key is to create a dewy, radiant look that will make you shine all night long. You can also find a champagne pink highlighter or blush to give you a warm, glowing appearance.

Conclusion

With these makeup ideas, you will be the star of the show for any event this season. For the best mobile makeup services in Las Vegas, NV, call on Beauty Studio Inc. Mobile Hair and Makeup. We’ll have you looking picture perfect for any holiday party!

Trendy Fall Makeup Looks

As the leaves turn different colors and the weather cools down, it’s clear that fall is just around the corner. You may be wondering: how can I change up my makeup routine to reflect the autumn season? In this blog post, we’re going to discuss a few different ways you can incorporate dark and smoky pigments into your makeup look!

Burgundy/Purples

Burgundy shadows and lipsticks pair well with light to medium skin tones.  The contrast of dark purples against your skin helps you to put together a dramatic look that catches attention anywhere you go. For eyeshadow application, we recommend blending together the colors at the crease first, and then buffing out the remaining shadow towards the outer eyelid. As for your lipstick, apply a dark colored lip liner and then fill in the remaining space with your favorite burgundy shade!

Deep Reds/Oranges

From crimson reds to burnt oranges, go outside of your comfort zone with these warm hues. This color palette is perfect for all skin tones, and can be incorporated with a variety of makeup looks. Since we’re sticking to fall trends, pair a matte red lipstick with neutral eyeshadows to let your lips be the center of attention. Orange eyeliners and eyeshadows are also a great way to add a pop of color on your lids!

Chiseled Charcoal

A super light dusting of a charcoal shadow can turn your fall makeup into something whimsical, yet sophisticated. The grey and black tones of charcoal can be combined with a jet black eyeliner and false lashes to up the intensity. Be sure to blend these colors to the outer edge of your eyelid, being careful not to smudge the shadow onto the rest of your face. However, if you do mess up, take a clean makeup wipe and carefully wipe away the mistake for a fresh start!

Hair Porosity: How Well Do You Really Know Your Hair?

Your hair is your crowning glory. You take care of it by washing and conditioning it, using the best styling products you know of to achieve the look you desire, and maybe by throwing in a special treatment to give your strands a boost in the right direction. You might know what products to use for hair based on the styles from popular magazines and makeover shows, but do you really know your hair and what it truly needs? To better understand what you need for an impeccable head of hair, you need to first understand your hair porosity. Then you should be able to choose the best products for your individual needs.

What is hair porosity?

Porosity can be defined as your hairs ability to accept and hold on to moisture. Moisture is everything if you want an amazing head of hair. Without the proper moisture your delicate strands need, they can become more prone to frizz, dryness, and breakage. When you understand your hair’s porosity, you can choose the proper hair care products to create the perfect do’ and enhance the health of your hair.

Types of Porosity

There are three types of hair porosity: Low, Normal, and High. You can naturally have a particular type of porosity, but constant hair manipulation can cause your hair to become more or less porous.

Low Porosity

Do you find yourself trying to saturate your hair with water longer than most people? If you walk through a mist of water, do you see water beaded up on your hair like flakes of snow? If so, then you most definitely have low porosity hair. This hair type is prone to products sitting on top of the hair instead of absorbing and tends to be on the drier side. This is due to the fact that your hair cuticles lie flat and are not lifted to accept much needed moisture. Oddly enough, your hair will take a long time to dry once it is fully saturated with water. Why? Because once water is able to finally penetrate the cuticle, the cuticle closes again trapping moisture.

Since this type of hair is the most delicate, it is important for the person to hydrate properly. Using water-soluble products is best and try to avoid heavy oils and products. Deep conditioning is a must for a lush, hydrated head of hair so make sure you deep condition with heat (such as with a hooded dryer, heat cap, etc.) to lift up your hair cuticles so the conditioner can penetrate effectively.

Normal (Medium) Porosity

If you have normal hair porosity, you are the envy of the town! Your hair type can easily accept moisture and you can even cocktail the type of products you use to suit your needs. The cuticles open and close easily when they need to, so water and products can penetrate just fine. Your haircare routine can change with the weather, so pay attention to your mane and give it what it needs!

High Porosity

Does your hair soak up moisture and products like it’s never soaked in them before? If so, your hair has high porosity, meaning your cuticles tend to stay open. Using heavy products can weigh your hair down quickly, so make sure to look for lightweight, silicon-free products to style and care for your hair.

How to Find out Your Porosity

Now that you know the general guidelines on hair porosity, you might have an idea about which category your hair falls under. But to find out for sure, there are a few different ways to perform a hair porosity test. Some easy, popular ways to determine your porosity are the water shed test or the hair strand test.

  • Water Shed Test

Wet a small section of hair with a spray bottle and watch how the water reacts with the hair. Is it sitting on top? Then you have low porosity hair. Is the water absorbed quickly? Then you have high porosity.

Water shed test
  • Hair Strand Test

Take a strand of hair and place it in a cup of clean water. If it floats, it is of low porosity. If it sinks to the bottom, it is of high porosity. If it floats to the middle, then it is of normal porosity.

Sometimes women have multiple types of hair porosity at once. If you suspect this, use separate cups of water and pick strands of hair from different sections of your head where textures seem to differ. This will help you tremendously with figuring out which products best suit your needs.

Conclusion

As you can see, the styling regimen that works for one person may not be the same for the next. In order to make that crown of yours shine and thrive, you need to pick out the right products to suit your low, normal, or high porosity needs. Makeup You’ll Need for Las Vegas

Glowing Makeup

Planning a weekend getaway to Vegas? You’re probably thinking of all the places you want to see, the restaurants you want to try, and what activities you want to do. But do you know what makeup you’ll need? Many people love wearing wild makeup to the bars and clubs, so it’s important to bring along some essentials. This blog post will tell you what makeup to pack for your Vegas trip!

Melt-Proof Makeup

The sweltering Nevada heat can melt your makeup, so it’s important to bring primer to keep it looking clean and pristine all day. Primer keeps your makeup in place – even when you sweat. Also, use waterproof gel eyeliners instead of pencil liners to give you that flawless wing without the worry of it smudging. Then, spritz on a setting spray to keep everything intact. You won’t have to touch up or reapply your makeup nearly as often throughout the day, so you can focus on having fun!

Male Wearing Makeup

Bold Makeup, Bold Lashes

Sin City isn’t the place for natural, everyday looks. When dancing the night away at clubs and bars, you want your makeup to be loud and proud. Spice things up with colorful, vibrant eyeliners and eyeshadows that you wouldn’t typically wear at home. This is the perfect time to try out new, creative looks!

Even if you don’t usually wear false lashes, Vegas is the perfect place to try them out. Big, luscious lashes will make you stand out of the crowd no matter where you’re at. Be sure to buy high-quality falsies because they look more natural and stay on your eyelids better.

Shimmer and Sparkles

Sparkly Eye Makeup

The Las Vegas strip is filled with bright lights and flashy signs. Sparkly makeup looks even better with all the glitz! Use shimmering highlight to make your cheekbones pop, or use glittery eyeshadow or a sparkly eyeliner to make your eyes shine. For a more subtle way to brighten your eyes, pick a pearly colored eyeshadow to apply to the lids or inner corners near the tear ducts. Also, rub on light-reflecting lotion to give your body an overall glow that looks dazzling in selfies.

Blotting Sheets and Makeup Remover Wipes

Hot temperatures are bad news for a full face of makeup. Adding powder will only cake on more layers of makeup to your face, which will melt off, too. Instead, bring blotting sheets to remove the oils while leaving your skin matte.

Makeup Remover Wipes

Falling asleep with a full face of makeup is horrible for your skin – but when you’re coming back to the hotel room after long hours of partying, you likely won’t want to wash your face. Makeup remover wipes offer a quick and easy way to clean off your makeup before you knock out in bed.

Moisturizer and Sunscreen

Vegas is a bustling city in the middle of a desert, which means your skin will endure a lot of exposure to the sun and second-hand smoke. An antioxidant moisturizer cleanses your skin of all those toxins, while sunscreen shields against harmful UV rays that can cause sunburns, wrinkles, and skin cancer. There are many sunscreen products out there that won’t mess up your makeup or make you look oily.

6 Tips for Studio Makeup

Makeup can truly make a difference when you’re on television or working behind a camera. The camera picks up the little nuances of your face, and that includes your makeup too. From carefully blending foundation to applying a darker lip color, there are many tips and tricks for looking your best in the studio. We’ve put together a list of our own so you can look great for every studio session!

1. Prep Skin

Apply moisturizer if you have dry skin, then pick your favorite primer! A good primer will not only help your skin look smoother, but can help makeup last longer. Your makeup will need to last through the day if you’re working from the morning into the late afternoon/evening. Primer can also reduce pores and keep your skin hydrated under the layers of makeup!

2. Foundation/Concealer

Next, apply your foundation with a damp sponge or brush to blend away any streaks or lines. Try using a foundation with an HD formula; it won’t make your face look “flat”, and can give you a more illuminated look.

Lightly apply concealer under your eyes, to the sides of your nose, and to the forehead. Concealer will not only cover dark spots, but brighten areas of the face you want to stand out!

3. Powder

To avoid shine, blot and use a colorless powder. Look for white powders that really don’t have any color to them but do absorb oil as it will look more natural and less cakey in front of the camera. Just apply with a big powder brush where needed.

 (Tip: Focus on your T-zone!)

4. Eyeshadow/Lashes

Matte eyeshadows work best on camera, and earth tones (beige, browns, and taupe) are the most flattering. Blend lighter shades first and then work your way to the darker colors. The darker colors will be the ones to show up most, so don’t worry about a heavy hand!

(Tip: Avoid shimmery colors!)

Adding a pair of fake eyelashes can also open up your eyes. Just make sure to select a length that is not too dramatic. If you do choose to wear fake eyelashes, try applying them on the outer corner of the lid.

5. Blush

Blush can give you back the healthy glow you’re missing underneath all the foundation and powders. We suggest applying your blush from the apples of your cheeks and brushing upward towards the temples for a lifted effect. Coral pinks and peachy pinks add just the right amount of color!

6. Lipstick

The lipstick shades that are best for the studio are neutral pinks. Pinks are great for any eye look, but if you have on neutral eyeshadow, it’s okay to reach for a darker shade of lipstick!

Conclusion

A full face of makeup can drastically change your appearance, especially when you’re in the studio or on camera broadcasting to a large audience. We suggest hiring a professional to get your makeup done the way you want it. Contact the team at Beauty Studio Inc Mobile Hair and Beauty for mobile makeup services and much more!

Prom 2019 Makeup Trends

Prom season is coming to a close, which means it’s time to review the hottest makeup trends of 2019! One of the best parts of prom is the freedom to create whatever makeup look you want to rock. Without fear of too little or too much, the possibilities are endless! Keep reading through this blog to find inspiration from this year’s prom makeup looks.

Bold Lip

Bold makeup is one of the many fun ways to stand out on prom night. Many people believe a bold makeup look is hard to create, however, a bold lip color has never been easier! This year, many students took a leap of faith and went with daring and bright shades. They had the ability to play down the makeup on their eyes so the lips stood out. Plus, they could toss the lipstick tube in their bag and bring it with them for the night! This is a great way to stay glam from beginning to end.

Smoldering Eyes

If you enjoy a challenge, a bold eye is a look for you! There are endless ways to play up the color, size, and shape of your eyes all based on the type of makeup you use. This year was all about finding the right shades and intensities. Whether a bold eyeshadow color was applied or a dramatic cat eye was the star of the show, there were so many different options to choose from. One of our favorite ways to make a statement is by adding a strip of false lashes! You simply pick the flair you love, trim to fit your eye, and glue them to your natural lash line. Your eyes will pop and by the end of the night, you can just gently take them off and reuse them again for another occasion!

Subtle Glam

It is true what they say about less is more. In the case of those who chose bold dresses or hair, a played down makeup look stood out just as much as all the bold looks. While the idea of soft makeup doesn’t sound fun, there are still plenty of ways that the subtle looks were absolutely glamorous. Soft eyes using light shades of shadows and a few coats of mascara can make your eyes pop. Some people even found that putting a shiny lip gloss on their lids created a dewy and fresh appearance. With a light, warm blush on the apples of their cheeks, they were ready for all the photographs!

Conclusion

There are many bold and daring makeup looks that were rocked for prom 2019. Whether you debuted a bold lip, dramatic eyes, or a subtle look, this year was definitely one for the books! For any other upcoming makeup needs, you may have, head on over to our website for inspiration and work from a professional!
